Platinum Collision and Autobody

The folks at Platinum Collision did an amazing job fixing my vehicle after being rear-ended and the damage underneath was pretty extensive. I got my vehicle back 2 weeks before the estimated finish time. The vehicle was fixed, clean (inside & out) and I got free cookies!

Took in my 2015 red Silverado on the 3-6-23 for the driver side damage They did a fantastic job. Patrick Finney made sure his team made a perfect job. Even saw the small things they did. Vacuumed my driver& passenger side floor mats and under the seats. Had a grill light hanging and they fixed it. Much much appreciated. %100 recommend this location. Thank you guys!! Also the front receptionist is super friendly. Amazing staff!

My Advisor was great. Timeline was as promised. Some small things may be missed upon initial repair, but some of these things were pretty obvious and that attention to detail in the repair would have prevented me from returning for what I saw as avoidable . Would come back again.

Platinum Collision and Autobody - Lake Villa

***UPDATE*** May 2019

Brought the Mazda 3 back for a third attempt. Platinum had a PPG representative come and match the paint job, provided two spray card samples to choose from. The PPG rep repainted the rear bumper cover and I am very pleased. The rear bumper cover matches closely to the factory paint. New pictures have been posted of the third paint job.

**I've posted pictures in different lighting, showing the factory OEM bumper and color, paint job 1 (too light), and paint job 2 (too dark).

Rear-ended and needed to get the rear-bumper replaced, impact bar, and filler. I decided to utilize Platinum Collision and Autobody which I was pleased with from a prior repair, due to their highly regarded reputation, and nicer facility, instead of Gerber Collision who USAA contracts with.

Both times the vehicle was returned clean with a subtle minty interior odor.

The Mazda3 has the 46G machine gray metallic body color. I was told that this is a special color and difficult to match 4-stage process.

Paint Job 1:
Duration of repair: 4 business days.

Picked the vehicle up in the evening, inspected it in the darkness of parking lot with flashlight and could tell already it didn't match well. Inspected the paint in sun light and the paint was an obvious mismatch -- too light. Brought the vehicle back to be repainted.

Paint Job 2:
Duration of rework approximately 4 days.

Platinum provided a Nissan Murano rental from Enterprise next door.

Picked the vehicle up in the evening, inspected it in the garage this time. The production manager did speak with me and offered to have a paint specialist attempt a third paint job. I declined at that moment.
I accepted the second paint job as better and good enough and thought I could deal with it. Although still, day or night, it’s apparent that the rear bumper cover paint does not match the rest of the vehicle -- too dark.

Strangely had the rear-left part of the rear bumper cover pop-off after driving on the expressway. Don't know if this has anything to do with the repair or not. I was able to snap it back into place.

I may schedule an appointment with Platinum Collision and Autobody to have it repainted again.

Mike Finney, Patrick Finney, and Diane Chuen were great to deal with. They’re friendly, helpful, communicate well, and really do seem like they want the best for their customers. They also provide tasty cookies upon receipt of work.
