Recently moved into the area and I had a bike that’s been sitting for about 5 years unused that I wanted to get tuned up. The tech looked at the bike immediately and determined the bike didn’t need anything but air in the tires, and didn’t charge me anything (I ended up buying a new kickstand, otherwise I wouldn’t have ended up paying anything). Businesses that are honest and don’t oversell unnecessary services are rare these days, goes a long way towards building trust and I’ll definitely be back to them for all my cycling needs.

Last fall, I cleaned up a 35 year old bicycle to see if I could still ride. Since the gears and cables were still functional, I started fixing it up. When the rear wheel was not salvageable, George Garner Cyclery replaced it, moving the gears to the new one. For $200 I have a rideable bike. They are professional and honest. I recommend them.

George Garner is the exact reason why we need independent bike shops. Super knowledgable, great service, and they want to work with you to get you what you need. No heavy pressure sales as well as no looking down their nose at novices looking to start out. I've been going here for years and have never had a bad interaction with them. Both on the service side or on sales side.

I used this rental once, my friend from Libertyville has recommended them. I’ve got a really good hybrid bike for $30 a day. On the negative side, 15-20 minutes wait on Saturday, you cannot book the bike online a day before, you should call, and they start at 10 am, which is a bit late for a weekend. Also, you need to return a bike before 5pm and they don’t work on Sunday. However, the personnel is very nice and I could get an agreement to return a bike a bit later as I couldn’t make it before 5pm, was to far.
