Walmart Auto Care Centers

I believe in constructive criticism, and am rating the service here with 4 rather than 2 stars, because employee Alberto kindly came out to my son's parked car to help with a specialty tool while an angel of a customer was helping change my son's car battery. We had previously come in Friday evening around 5:15 pm (tho open till 7pm) and were told they were not taking any more cars, so a helpful Auto Center young man (I didn't get his name) at least helped us locate the right battery and we bought it and were told they would replace it at no charge another day when we come in. So my son and I came in today/Sunday around 3pm, but again a (different) front desk person said they were not taking any more cars and there was no one to change battery (tho open until 7pm). When I asked if there would be someone to help early morning the next day/Monday (before my son had to go to his new job), the front desk person said it depended on whether there would be someone who was able to do batteries. When I asked if I could speak to a manager I was told there was no manager, and when I said there must be a manager and mentioned that I worked at (another) Walmart I was told that the Auto Center manager couldn't do anythng about it either. That's when a standby customer overheard me and stepped in like an angel to help change my son's car battery - this customer (who didn't even give me his name) even bought a toolset (refusing to let me pay) just to help with this. When he had removed the terminal connections, that's when he saw a specialty tool was needed to remove the battery from the base, and that's when Alberto angelically came out to check on us and brought a tool to help us. I commended Alberto for showing true customer service and care and wanted to commend him to management in this review.

I had previously had an upsetting experience at another Walmart Auto Care center, which was resolved by a member of management, I don't want to jeopardize anyone's job and believe in constructive criticism. My main criticism about this Addison Walmart Auto Care Center is that it is "lazy" business and contrary to customer care to turn customers away so early ahead of closing time, esp for urgent winter driving safety needs (esp tires and battery). In my son's case he is starting his new job tomorrow and it concerns me to think that if the angel of a customer hadn't stepped in, my son would have been repeatedly turned away at this Walmart for the same lame reasons as today, and having to jumpstart his car each day at the risk of his job and also winter safety.

When I had called earlier this past week I was told no appointments but only walk-ins were being taken, but when you say this, please be sure to honor the business hours listed (or at least until 30-45 mins before close). I understand about being short-staffed and having longer wait times for walk-ins, but from multiple other review complaints, it's clear you are losing lots of business because of turning customers away well ahead of closing time. I hope my and other customer reviews be taken constructively, so customer service at your location may be improved. I work at a Walmart pharmacy where criticism (even when short-staffed and back-logged) is taken both seriously and constructively because medicines (like auto service) are about someone's safety and survival.

Ordered tires online. They had my size in stock and was able to setup an appointment the next day. They installed my tires within one hour. Would definitely recommend.

I’ve had a good experience here. Came for my 50 mile retorque and I was in and out within 5 minutes. Very courteous staff. But then, I called to see how long the wait was for a tire rotation, they told me they don’t take new cars anymore. It was 3PM on a Friday. I asked if I could make an appointment and they told me they don’t do reservations. The person on the phone told me to come in at 7AM when they open, otherwise there would be “very long wait times”. I guess it is Walmart, I should taper my expectations…
