The Slice Spot

As a native of Northern NJ and a transplant to Chicago, the singular item I crave most is a proper pie. There have been many attempts throughout downtown Chicago and the Chicagoland suburbs at a NY/NJ style pizza, but NONE of them come close to this gem. Our family visited the Slice Spot this past weekend and had the pleasure of meeting Joe. Our search for a proper pie has finally succeeded. From the crust and base of the pie, to the sauce and cheese, everything comes together immaculately. Joe is an artist with the dough, hand stretching it perfectly. It is evident from the thinness and evenness consistently throughout. From the moment we walked through the doors, I was transplanted and felt back home. For any Chicago natives—forget the styles you are accustomed to and experience a true NJ style pizza at the Slice Spot. You will not regret it. (Ps-he took into consideration cutting the pie with some thin slices for our 3 year old without us asking. The guys a legend).

This place is a gem. Good prices, fresh ingredients, actually crispy thin crust, and friendly people.

Margherita is worth a try here, they also use some fantastic pepperoni/sausage.

Sauce is perfect, fresh and not overpoweringly sweet or salty.

I can't recommend them enough. Expect a wait if they are busy but if you come when it's slower you might get your pie in 15 minutes (like me).

Just come get some!

My husband and I found this place on YouTube and, based on the excellent reviews and the YouTube review, we decided to try it out. I am so glad we did. This is the best pizza that I have ever had, and the owner was so welcoming. We would make the 5 hour trip to Chicago to eat here again!

If you don't know how picky I am about my pizza ....then do you even know me ? Lol.

So when I found out about a pizza place called , The Slice Spot run and owned by someone from New Jersey...I had to stop by this weekend !

Let me tell you. ..it didn't disappoint. Best part....it was my Chicago born and raised husband,
approved as well !

They sell pizza by the slice or by the pie.

Let me tell you , it felt so good to order and say can I get a large pie and not have the person on the other end say , "huh?"

We ordered the Jersey pie if you're interested. Its in a small strip mall / plaza. Signs aren't up but its the one on the left .

I'm sure they would love some business ...they're reviews are great and the owner himself makes the pizza !

Smooth ordering, great fresh out of the oven pizza ...just perfect. So glad we found this place, I'll be spreading the word and def ordering again when my family visits or my pregnancy cravings kick in !

This pizza is real good. I tried both the white pizza and the jersey pizza (sausage and pep combo) and enjoyed them both. The jersey has just enough heat to the pepperoni and white pizza deliciously garlicky, but I didn't love the dobs of ricotta (just a personal preference). Owner was super nice and talkative. Don't judge the store front or the lack of decor inside would rather have them put money into the ingredients. I have them at 4 stars (Pizza 5, Ambience 3, Value 4). Value was lowered to do the slices being smaller than I expected for Jersey style, but 5 for quality)
