Leon's Barbecue

Leon's is a small chain that seems to be confined to the south side of Chicago. Their BBQ is pretty amazing, and very consistently so. This time, "all" that I got to try was fried chicken, hot links, and fries. The chicken was amazing ... literally tasted like chicharron made from pork skin! The hot links were great, and the sauce that you pour over both the links and the chicken is excellent. The fries were nice and hot, crispy, and consistently done. In sum, coming from someone who lives in Kansas (where we have great BBQ!), Chicago is no world center for BBQ, but Leon's is an impressive place, and has to rank among the best that Chicago has to offer.

I’ve had Leon’s since I was a child and I can honestly say that this is one of the best BBQ places I have ever had. I went years without having the fries with the sauce they serve and still remembered the place after not going for a long time. The chicken is really good and the food is prepared super fast so there’s barely a wait. I’m not a rib fan but my family enjoyed the rib tips as well. This place reminds me of my mom who’s no longer here and remembering her brought me to write a review on a place where I’ve always enjoyed the food.

Took the Red Line down to Roosevelt and then Orange Line to Kedzie. I ordered the Rib Tips small. Went to Grant Skate Park to eat it but had to take the Orange Line back. It was the Rib Tips, fries and 2 pieces of bread. It was solid but nothing crazy and also I had to eat it in the humid outside on a bench so that wasn't the best either. The fries were super good tho, nice and crispy.
