Functional Medicine- Peter Kozlowski M.D.

I can’t say enough about working with Dr. Kozlowski. After having ~6 yrs of years of gut issues, my physical therapist told me about him. By the time I started seeing him, the recommendations I had been given were to have a section of my gut removed, and I had been fighting to save it. If I had the surgery, there was no guarantee that my gut would function well, and it would create other issues and have a long recovery period. I often felt sick and had very low energy though--I knew something had to change and I was desperate. My general MD, who is wonderful, told me that functional medicine docs have training that they don’t have, so encouraged me to see Dr. Kozlowski as well. Dr. Kozlowski formulated a plan to test and try some things out, and I gladly obliged. It was hugely successful and I got my energy back. It did take some work on my part, but I am so thankful to have found Dr. Kozlowski and to have gone through the steps to get my gut functioning properly again. He has a relaxed demeanor and explains things well. He has truly been a life saver for me.

I highly recommend Dr. Kozlowski! I started seeing Dr. Koz after I decided to take my health into my own hands. I knew something was off with me digestion-wise and overall health and my regular doctor literally told me to just eat more complex carbs. Dr. Koz had me do a bunch of different tests that showed I did in fact have some digestion issues among some other things. I learned so much more about my body and now have a plan to get back to optimal health. Most importantly, Dr. Koz was so patient in explaining everything to me, my results, how things things interact with each other, etc. He also took time to answer all my questions. I really appreciate everything he has done for me!

I started seeing Dr. Kozlowski after researching functional medicine doctors in August 2022. I decided to book an appointment with him after reading his book, "Unfunc your Gut". I would recommend to read that book before scheduling an appointment so you can begin to understand the process you are signing yourself up for if you decide to pursue treatment with a functional medicine provider.
Dr. Kozlowski is approachable, thorough, and spends time talking with you as a patient. The intake paperwork is detailed for your medical history, and it does seem like he reads it prior to your first appointment. He is very open to labwork and allowing you to get the most comprehensive big picture of your current health possible. He is also helpful for recommending supplements and re-structuring your current medication/supplement regimen.
I started seeing Dr. Kozlowski because I was having issues with my stomach including constipation alternating with diarrhea, night sweats, fatigue and anxiety. Since becoming a patient and following his plan of care, I can say within the last 3 weeks I have been able to sleep through the night without a sleep aid for the first time in over a year. I have not had a night sweat recently and I have lost 10 pounds. I kept wondering prior to seeing him why I was gaining weight/could not lose weight regardless of counting calories/exercising - turns out the majority of that weight was inflammation/water weight bloating from a stomach infection.
I still have some work to do - but none of this improvement would be possible without Dr. Kozlowski and Mackenzie. Other doctors were dismissive of me as a young, healthy female when I would make appointments with my PCP or OB/GYN and just tell me that my symptoms were "normal". They definitely were not. I am hoping over time I continue to improve and am able to fully heal.

P.S. - Mackenzie is exceptional and very responsive for communicating with labs and between Dr. Kozlowski and her patients.

I was referred to Dr. Kozlowski, almost 2 months ago, after suffering with GI issues for over 10 years. Dr. Kozlowski
is very thorough, and I felt was the first doctor in all these years to actually listen to me. He will go above and beyond in resolving and treating your condition. Anytime I had questions, Mackenzie promptly returned my emails and took the time to make sure all of my questions were answered. Thanks to Dr. Kozlowski and Mackenzie I am finally feeling good for the first time in a really long time!

Dr Koz is heaven sent! I purposely waited a few months before writing this review because I wanted to see my health improve and it did!
Dr Koz is very personable and very knowledgeable . I shared all of my ailments and he recommended I undergo a few tests and based on the results he was able to recommend a treatment plan. I have not felt this vibrant in years! I'm excited to start my day because I'm no longer feeling fatigued or lethargic. My overall health hasn't been this good in years.
